Today each colonist got a job. We used our list of things we need to decide how people could help our colony survive. Here is the list of jobs for each colony:
- Hunter & Fisher
- Gardener
- Clothes Maker
- Carpenter
- Wood Gatherer
- Leader
Everybody with the same job got together in a group to decide on a project for the colony to do. The hunters, fishers, and gardeners decided to make bread next week using a recipe from a book called Don't Know Much About the Pilgrims by Kenneth C. Davis. The clothes makers plan to make pockets so colonists can hold their things and keep them safe. The carpenters will help their colonies build houses for shelter and protection. The wood gatherers decided to make candles next week so the colonists could have light. The leaders thought of a way to communicate by writing letters with quills. We are excited to share more about our adventures with you next week!
The 3rd and 4th graders are learning about how people create inventions to solve problems. The colonists were great problem solvers! We can't wait to see the inventions that the 1st and 2nd grade colonists create!
