Writing with Quills

Today we made quills. Quills are writing tools for pilgrims. Back in the old days everyone used quills to write because there were no pencils or pens. They are made from the feathers of a bird.

You need ink to write with the quills. We dipped the quills into a cup of ink and we wrote letters to our families. At first we felt nervous but then we got the hang of it. It was difficult because the ink kept on getting on our feathers and hands. It felt like we were really back in the old days.

Even though it was hard to write with our quills, some of us want to write with them for a whole day. Tomorrow these pilgrims will write with their quills ALL DAY LONG!
